Lauren Williams

Artist Statement

American, b. 1984

Lives and works in Dallas, TX

Lauren Williams is a Texas-based fiber artist known for her innovative approach to fiber art. Williams creates her art by suspending strands of wool fibers from beautifully crafted wooden planks. These strands are meticulously dyed in multiple layers, creating rich, saturated textures that bring depth and dynamism to her work.

Williams is a self-taught artist. Her journey as an artist began with a desire to create something unique for her own home that didn't align with traditional options. Williams envisioned a fiber-based alternative. This vision led to the creation of her first tapestry. After sharing her work online, she quickly gained a following, transforming her creative passion into a thriving business, Lauren Williams Art.

Williams enjoys pushing the boundaries of traditional techniques. Inspired by the organic shapes and patterns of nature, Williams aims to reflect the calming and grounding aspects of the natural world in her work. Williams’ compositions emphasize the importance of balance—whether in the way fibers interact with light or the delicate contrast of colors and textures that form the final piece.

Today, Williams loves collaborating with interior designers and art consultants to craft custom pieces for both residential and commercial spaces. Her work, known for its originality and tactile beauty, adds a distinctive touch to any environment.

Williams' work has been featured in Rue Daily, AD Pro, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Lonny, Best of American Made Interior Design, Homes, House Beautiful, Luxe, Modern Luxury, and Inspire Design. Additionally, she has created installations for notable locations like the Kimpton Alexis Hotel, Marriott Schaumburg, Westin Hawaii, and Gorjana Boutique Jewelry Stores.
